Diabetes

The sun is shining and the world looks a different place today. I would think a few people will be smiling again after a few dismal days. The UK has now announced planes can fly again and I’ve been watching the BBC grill the Transport minister Lord Adonis as though the Government had made an error. Surely the most important aspect in all this must always have been passenger safety. The one thing everyone should have realised by now is the complexity of the tourism industry. It should also demonstrate quite clearly the dangers of relying on one market to run a town’s economy. This is why Benidorm’s tourism chiefs have been trying to woo new tourists from Russia and Italy. Let’s get the forecast…..

Smile and you’ll live longer.

BIG smile? Longer still.

Wayne State University researchers collected photos of 230 Major League Baseball players who started their careers before 1950. Independent reviewers, who were not aware of the study’s purpose, categorized the photos, sorting each into one of three groups: non-smilers, smilers, and big smilers.

When the smile rankings were matched against each player’s lifespan, researchers found a very strong link between smiling and longevity.

These were the average lifespans:

  • Non-smilers: 72.9
  • Smilers: 75
  • Big smilers: 79.9
  • Of course, this doesn’t offer proof that a frequent smile will actually help you live longer. But consider this: Some Zen Buddhists believe that starting off every morning with a good long laugh is equal to the calming effect of several hours of meditation. And studies have shown that smiling or laughing prompts the release of endorphins and serotonin– brain chemicals that improve mood.

No guarantees a smile will add seven years to your life, but you know what they say: at least people will wonder what you’ve been up to.

    To Your Good Health,

Glucose Level Control and Diabetic Treatment

Our pancreas is affected by diabetes – specifically, Type 2. Our body contains glucose found in the blood stream, which it gets from the sugar in food. Our body uses the glucose, but only when it goes into our blood cells and the insulin released by our pancreas converts it. Insulin production and utilization is difficult for someone who lives with Type 2 diabetes. There is a lot of glucose in the body, but your cells cannot locate them.

The American Diabetes Association has the duty of looking for information regarding this important medical condition. 23.6 million individuals living in America currently have diabetes, and because of this the country is seen as very unhealthy. Ninety percent of this figure has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes and the tendency to be overweight usually run in the family. If there is too much glucose in your body, it could result in serious internal organ damage and affect one’s nervous system.

    A Diabetic Life

A life with Type 2 diabetes is best lived in a healthy way. Diabetics will find that healthy practices will have a huge effect on them. Simple actions like eating healthy food and exercising are considered as healthy practices. Keeping the levels of your glucose within the appropriate range ensures you stay away from health complications. To check the levels of blood glucose in your body, you can do the common finger prick test. Physicians say that such a test is comparable to the HbA1c test when tracking the glucose fluctuations in your body. This HbA1c test works by determining how high your glucose levels are and by identifying the blood’s exact glycated hemoglobin percentage. According to results of the A1c tests, people who have diabetes maintain their levels at seven percent. A seven percent maintaining level of a1c, according to the CDC, can dramatically reduce the risks of this disease by around forty percent.

    Too-Tight Controls

If your a1c levels are below this seven percent mark, studies indicate that this could result into something bad. One particular study done in Lancet and Swedish Medical Center located in Seattle, showed that there is a higher death risk for people who use insulin regularly and those who have a1c median levels. On the contrary, there have been many tests that show that it is also healthy to keep your a1c levels at 7%. According to accredited endocrinologist Matt Davies, the seven percent maintaining level of a1c is all right; still, physicians need to consider their patient’s medical history even before they prescribe the treatment.

If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn’t part of ourselves doesn’t disturb us. – Hermann Hesse, 1877-1962

Tesco is using Spain as the hub of its European distribution effort. It’s just posted massive profits yet again so could this have a knock on effect for a beleagred economy here in Spain. The interesting part of the TV interview with Tesco’s chief executive was the intricate nature of their distribution chain. Flowers which should be coming from Kenya might be replaced by other plants ferried in from Europe. The ramifications of this Icelandic spew spread far and wide with hundreds and thousands of different travelling problems. Who’s to say this volcano will stop spewing its eruption across Europe in a hurry? This could go on for weeks and the ironical part of it all is that is apparently safe to fly into Reykjavík!

Reykjavík (Icelandic pronunciation:is the capital and largest city of Iceland. Its latitude  at 64°08′ N makes it the world’s northernmost capital of a sovereign state. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói  Bay. With a population of around 120,000  it is the heart of Iceland’s economic and governmental  activity.

Reykjavík is believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland, which Ingólfur Arnarson is said to have established around 870. Until the 18th century, there was no urban development in the city location. The city was founded in 1786 as an official trading town and grew steadily over the next decades, as it transformed into a regional and later national centre of commerce, population and governmental activities.

Today, Reykjavík is the centre of the Greater Reykjavík Area, which is the only metropolitan area in Iceland, with a population of 202,000. As a highly modernized capital of one of the most developed countries in the world, its inhabitants enjoy a first-class welfare system and city infrastructure. Its location, only slightly south of the Arctic Circle, receives only four hours of daylight on the shortest day in the depth of winter; during the summer the nights are almost as bright as the days. It has continued to see population growth in past years as well as growth in areas of commerce and industry. Reykjavík was ranked first on Grist Magazine’s “15 Greenest Cities” list in 2008.  Source

It’s also rather weird that Iceland had its pivotal role to play in the banking crisis and is now the centre of the current disruption…………

    Sick people stay offline

There’s a lot of sickening garbage on the Internet… but at least the sickest people are less likely to run into it.

A recent Pew Foundation survey found that just 62 percent of adults with chronic illnesses go online, versus 81 percent of everyone else. And the sicker they are, the less they surf: only 52 percent of Americans battling two or more chronic diseases use the Internet.

Ironically, these people are even less likely to use the Internet for health information. Two-thirds of healthy people go online for medical information, versus just 51 percent of the chronically ill.

I say good for them — they have bigger things to worry about, and they’ll have a hard time getting any REAL answers out here in the wasteland of cyberspace.

Ever try searching for information about a disease or condition? I’m sure you have
    – and you probably know how hard it is to get real answers. The Web is packed with lies, myths, half-truths and deliberate misinformation.

And plenty of those bad sites are run by Big Pharma — even if it’s not always obvious.

For example, asthma.com is billed as “Asthma information and treatment options.” The banner at the top of the page claims it offers “a fresh perspective on living with asthma.”

Read the fine print — because this “fresh perspective” is brought to you by GlaxoSmithKline, and the goal of this site is to get you on the company’s asthma meds.

    So much for treatment “options.”

Looking for information on diabetes.com? GSK owns that one too. At least some others are a little more direct: MensEDFacts.com takes you right to page for Levitra, while GetCholesterolInfo.com goes right to page for Crestor.

But if you’re really battling any of these conditions or other forms of chronic illness, the last thing you want to do is waste more time battling to get good information.

It’s like I always say — don’t believe a word of what you read, unless you read it here in the Daily Dose or in The Douglass Report. If you haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for? Click here to find out more.

It started as a fabulous day with clear blue skies here in La Nucia. The mountains looked magnificent and the good news for Spain is the terrible clouds from Iceland seemed to be leaving Spain clear. This means people can use Spain as the hub for their travel back to the UK and elsewhere. Will it last? By 11.30 clouds have begun to gather to the east of us. Good luck to all travelling today onwards.

Liverpool are now going to be lucky to finish 6th after yesterday’s games in the Premier League. Wigan demonstrated to Arsene Wenger the folly of trying to walk the ball into the net on every occasion with a late burst of target practice. Villa had to fight for their points. Liverpool have a chance to get points tonight but, without Torres for the rest of the season I wouldn´t back them to win the local Parks and Gardens league.

    Microwaving Water!

A 26-year old man decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he wanted to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the! water was not boiling, but suddenly the water in the cup ‘blew up’ into his face. The cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand, but all the water had flown out into his face due to the buildup of energy. His whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave scarring.

He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye. While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated that this is a fairly common occurrence and water (alone) should never be heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something should be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea bag, etc.., (nothing metal).

    General Electric’s Response:

Thanks for contacting us, I will be happy to assist you. The e-mail that you received is correct. Microwaved water and other liquids do not always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can actually get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it.

To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for thirty seconds! before moving it or adding anything into it.

Here is what our local science teacher had to say on the matter: ‘Thanks for the microwave warning. I have seen this happen before. It is caused by a phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur anytime water is heated and will particularly occur if the vessel that the water is heated in is new, or when heating a small amount of water (less than half a cup).

What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapour bubbles can form. If the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small surface scratches inside it that provide a place for the bubbles to form. As the bubbles cannot form and release some of the heat has built up, the liquid does not boil, and the liquid continues to heat up well past its boiling point.

What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or jarred, which is just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly form and expel the hot liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also why a carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken.’

If you pass this on you could very well save someone from a lot of pain and suffering

Obesity tied to colon, liver problems

If someone needs to tell you that being fat is unhealthy, then nothing I say here is going to help you — just keep right on eating yourself into the grave.

The less you know, the happier your final days will be.

But if you’re serious about your health and losing weight, pay attention — because the latest research shows even more ways having a big bottom and jelly belly will kill you early.

Turns out fat people are more likely to die of colon cancer. We already know they’re more likely to GET colon cancer, so this is just icing on all that cake they’re eating.

A recent Mayo Clinic study found that obese men are 35 percent more likely to die of colon cancer over the next eight years than men of normal weight. Obese women are a quarter more likely to die of the condition than women of normal weight.

Gaining weight causes your hormones to rampage — and those imbalances can fuel colon cancer and other diseases.

The real shame of it is that no one needs to die of colon cancer. Colonoscopies are the only truly effective cancer screenings out there. Combine that with a normal weight, and most people won’t have to worry (just make sure you get the real thing and not a “virtual” colonoscopy).

And that’s not the only bad news for fatties — because another new study finds that people who like to guzzle down extra booze along with all those pizzas and snack cakes are far more likely to suffer from liver problems.

According to a study published in BMJ, obese men who have 15 drinks a week have seven times the risk of liver disease than slim non-drinkers. Those who gorge even more have a 19-fold increase in risk.

The researchers say this means heavier people should drink less. But if you’re obese and plan to stay that way, drink up — if you’re laying on the tracks anyway, do you really care which train hits you?

If the liver problems don’t strike, then you’re bound to drop dead anyway of diabetes, heart disease, the colon cancer I told you about earlier, or any of a number of other conditions.

Remember: There’s no such thing as being fat AND healthy, and anyone who tells you otherwise is suffering from brain damage in addition to a bulging belly.

    Kids lacking critical nutrient

Love your baby or grandchild? Do the little rugrat a favor — take him outside.

Two new studies show what happens when you try to grow kids away from the sun, like a fungus — they’re deficient in vitamin D the moment they’re born, and it only gets worse from there.

One study in Pediatrics finds up to 58 percent of all infants lack vitamin D at birth. Another study finds that few American infants — as little as 5 percent — get the minimum levels they need each day.

And where are the pediatricians on this? They’re too busy pushing flu shots on kids to give them what they really need: Only between 1 and 13 percent of our babies are getting a vitamin D supplement.

No wonder our kids are so sickly!

Here’s just a little taste of what they’re missing: Researchers gave Japanese schoolchildren either a D supplement or a placebo, and found the kids who got the D were 58 percent less likely to get the flu. They also had a lower risk of colds and even asthma, according to the study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

That’s right — forget those flu shots. All your kid really needs is a daily dose of D.

    D-livering the news on D,

    The Great Debate

Apparently, the eruption of the Icelandic volcano was not officially the largest ever but it was apparently like a champagne cork exploding with particles that could have endangered the engines of aeroplanes. This, of course, had led to England becoming a no-fly zone for the first time in history. Personally, I would always prefer safety although apparently not everyone agrees!  People on news bulletins this morning were querying the decisions taken to ground all planes. Did they not see what the rest of us saw?

    The Great Debate

ITV News assembled 20 undecided voters from the key marginals of Bolton NE and Bolton W. The voters watched the debate from a location in Bolton, and participated in a worm poll as they watched the debate. They each had a handset on which they registered approval/disapproval or neutral feelings constantly throughout the debate. The output of each handset created a live “worm” graph throughout the debate, showing a total positive or negative rating for the audience appreciation.

How did this Great Debate appear to you? For my money, the more you listened to all three leaders the more difficult it became to see who really came out on top. I think we all new Gordon Brown is no media person. David Cameron is bright eyed and bushy tailed and Nick Clegg certainly looks the part. It would appear the television companies are the possible winners. Hidden cameras would seem to be taken more seriously than the words of the party leaders. The ITV commentaters seemed to be more concerned in their hidden audience comprised of the undecided voters in Bolton. The ITV seemed to be trying to turn the debate into a political X-Factor. Nick Clegg won the debate for this particular X-Factor according to the ITV. It would appear the Swingometer is being replaced!  Maybe British politics are about to change and the LibDems will re-emerge as a major force?

A big ´Thank You´to Kristina Ridley who has written the following article

About the Author – Kristina Ridley writes for the blood glucose meter blog , her personal hobby blog focused on healthy eating and tips to measure blood glucose levels at home to help people understand early diabetes symptoms. The website is http://www.diabetesmeters.org/

Many traditional songs such as ‘Mi Partia’ (My homeland), the dance of Xinjiang, ‘Vuelve a Mi Tu Rostro’ (Bring your face back to me), the Guzheng solo instrumental, ‘Lucha contra el Tifon’ ( Battle against the Typhoon), as well as Martial arts, the Torero’s dance and the female solo — Paloma, all of which were interpreted by Chinese students, were especially well received.    Full Story

    Nano Ingredients

Some see things as they are and say “Why?” I dream of things that never were and say “Why not?” RFK’s reworking of George Bernard Shaw.

The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it.” – Michelangelo

There’s a programme on BBC TV called Animal 24/7 and it shows the work of the RSPCA in combating animal abuse. It really is hard to imagine just how some people find their living conditions acceptable. Time and again there’s video footage of someone living in squalor with their pets. Needless to say, the minute the suggestion is made that their abode is unclean hands are held up in horror. How dirty must a place get before these people realise they’re living in squalor. What is even more unimaginable is when excrement from their pets decorates the room. What this programme has shown so far is mind boggling.

This morning, for example, there’s this guy with three Greyhounds who are mangey. Not only do they have this problem but they are as this as can be. Bones are protruding and they look totally undernourished. The owner, as you’d expect, is totally ready to assure the RSPCA officers that the dogs are in good shape and are being well fed. This is not what the pictures show and the RSPCA have taken the dogs into care…………Incidentally, the RSPCA official was saying that this is a particularly bad year for pets being dumped because their owners just don’t want them any more.

The weather is better again. Yesterdat was intriguing. Around the Iberian Peninsula there was plenty of rain and the mountains were shrouded in grey clouds until around 1 pm. Hidden hazards of nano-ingredients

I never thought I’d say this, but there’s something in your food that’s even worse than sugar… and this microscopic new threat isn’t even listed on the ingredients label.

These tiny terrors are called “nanoparticles” or “nanomaterials,” and they’ve been scientifically engineered to make foods look better and last longer.

But when it comes to nano, just say no-no — because nanotechnology, as it’s called, is wildly unregulated and dangerously untested. In fact, we have no idea at all what this junk might to do humans — yet you’re probably eating it right now.

Welcome to your new life as a supermarket lab rat.

What little we do know is downright frightening: A two-year study on animals at UCLA found nano-titanium dioxide — the most common nanoparticle — caused DNA and chromosome damage, according to AOL News.

The researchers say this kind of severe damage could lead to cancer, heart disease and brain disease… and yet these nano-particles are turning up in everything from fruit and vegetable coatings to salad dressing to ice cream.

We used to call that food tampering. Instead, the mad scientists behind this sick scheme are considered industry pioneers.

Meanwhile, the FDA is so in the dark on this one that they won’t even admit it’s in your food… even if its own experts say it is. In fact, the AOL News report found that 20 of the world’s top food makers have their own nano-labs or contracts with universities to develop nano-ingredients for them.

And because there’s no requirement to list these particles on nutritional labels, there’s no way of knowing if your food has been nano-tainted… and therefore no way to avoid it.

It’s reaching the point where the only way to be safe is to grow your own — and if you have the time and space, don’t wait — spring is here. Start planting today.

    How much is that Doggie?

We are using the technology available to communicate with this blog but there is still resistance in many quarters to this modern technology.Who is right? It is great to communicate with friends and acquaintances but at the same time it is both time consuming and can make you quite isolated -especially if you are not prepared to switch off the computer and rejoin the real world. Here’s a view expressed in a recent newsletter to me. The source is at the foot of the article.

Technology is here to stay and if you avoid using it, you will limit your progress. Online banking, Internet marketing, and social networking on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin are all parts of 21st-century living and doing business. Whether you have a job or are in business for yourself, you need to be up to speed with software and online resources.

Working alone and doing everything yourself is very yesterday. People who succeed in the emerging economic paradigm are those who know how to work in teams and in cooperation with others. Communication skills, both online and off, are essential as is the willingness to create joint ventures and to share and give to others without expecting anything in return.

For my memories, there were certainly more sillier songs recorded  in the fifties and certainly less politically motivated songs. Probably it was the relief that war had ended. Certainly the likes of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez began to change the way music was used. It was being aimed at changing political ideas. The Flower Power years probably softened the political messages coming in the music but the glamour of wearing glitter in the early seventies was shot from the jukeboxes by the violent nature of punk music. The eighties musicians contented themselves more with the fashion they wore to create their music. The rappers then seemed to be carrying the political battles with an odd song thrown in by the likes of Billy Bragg.

What prompted that extremely quick sprint through the decades? It was the absolute innocence of Lita Roza in 1957 as she sang the question How much is that doggie in the window? She did specify the dog she meant. It was the one with the waggly tail! I don’t think Lady Gaga would be too bothered with such lyrics.Nor can I see Amy Winehouse being too impressed by the lyrics!

The weather is teetering from poor to better then back to poor this morning. The whole of Spain seems to be in the grip of a rain-filled weather system. The worse affected areas are to the south and the west and we seem to have the best of what is on offer. We had some very menacing clouds out to sea last night but the rain didn’t materialise. This morning started well enough with a bit of sunshine but it is deteriorating even as I am writing this blog. I’ll get the forecast for the Alicante province first……..

The following probably won’t suprise too many people, especially those who have worked with positive thinking………

    Optimism Boosts Immune System

Optimism doesn’t just boost your mood. According to new research, a glass-half-full attitude also strengthens the immune system.

The study, which tracked changes in optimism and immune response among first-year law students, found that as students became more optimistic, they showed stronger cell-mediated immunity, the flood of immune cells that respond to an invasion by foreign viruses or bacteria. When optimism dropped, so did cell-mediated immunity.

    ….

We have yet another change in the weather. I can’t say I’m surprised as the general map of Spain showed rain everywhere. We were really quite lucky to get in a nice sunny day until around 4 pm. Then, as I was walking near the mountains the ominous rain clouds began to cover the mountains. It was obvious it would soon rain and around 7pm it arrived. This dispels two myths learnt in England. The rain in Spain doesn’t seem to stay maily on the plain. Also, the land mass seems to have its fair share of quickly changing weather. Let’s see how long this rain will be with us in the Alicante province….those of a weak disposition look away now……

How creams and lotions contribute to water pollution

If you’re slathering on topical creams, antibiotic ointments, medicated patches and hormone lotions, you’re not just marinating yourself in unnecessary meds — you’re sharing them with your friends and neighbors as well.

An alarming new study presented at the American Chemical Society’s annual meeting shows that when you bathe, these drugs head right into the water table, where they make a beeline for taps all over town.

Thanks, pal. Just what the rest of us a need — an extra dose of YOUR meds.

But hey, it’s not just you. We’re all drinking each other’s drugs. Every prescription pill you swallow eventually comes out the other end, where it gets flushed down the drain. That’s bad enough — but at least those meds are diluted by their trip through the body.

All those creamy, gooey lotions, on the other hand, are still full-strength drugs when you wash them off.

And forget water treatment plants — trusting them to keep chemicals out of your tap water would be like trusting the French to keep out the Germans.

I’ve been warning of tainted water for years. Every day, millions of Americans are exposed to some of the worst drugs, chemicals and toxins imaginable — all pouring out of your supposedly safe tap water.

Everything from sex-change hormones to rocket fuel has been found in U.S. drinking water from coast to coast — in big cities and small towns alike. Some of these poisons enter as human waste, like those drugs I just mentioned… but others are a byproduct of corporate greed as American industry uses your waterways as its own private dumping grounds.

And of course, plenty of other toxic additives are put in on purpose — fluoride, chlorine and a few extras they haven’t copped to yet. Feminizing, sissy-making hormone drugs keep turning up in our water, making men impotent and weak — and I refuse to believe it’s an accident.

These are just a few of the reasons why I haven’t had a glass of water in 20 years. To find out more, click here.

Add it all up, and we’ve got some of the world’s most polluted water — and there’s little you can do to protect yourself from it. Don’t waste your money with supermarket water filters — get yourself a reverse-osmosis filter and install where the water enters your home.

    Tapping into the truth,

    William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

Little Bruce & Jenny..………………..Thanks Ian K from Villamar

Little Bruce and Jenny are only 10 years old, but they know they are in love. One day they decide that they want to get married, so Bruce goes to Jenny’s father to ask him for her hand.

Bruce bravely walks up to him and says, ‘Mr. Smith, me and Jenny are in love and I want to ask you for her hand in marriage.’

Thinking that this was just the cutest thing, Mr. Smith replies, ‘Well Bruce, you are only 10. Where will you two live?’

Without even taking a moment to think about it, Bruce replies, ‘In Jenny’s room. It’s bigger than mine and we can both fit there nicely.’

Still thinking this is just adorable, Mr. Smith says with a huge grin, ‘Okay then how will you live? You’re not old enough to get a job. You’ll need to support Jenny.’

Again, Bruce instantly replies, ‘Our allowance. Jenny gets five bucks a week and I get 10 bucks a week. That’s about 60 bucks a month and that should do us just fine.’

Mr. Smith is impressed Bruce has put so much thought into this. ‘Well Bruce, it seems like you have everything figured out. I just have one more question. What will you do if the two of you should have little ones of your own?’

Bruce just shrugs his shoulders and says,

‘Well, we’ve been lucky so far.’

Mr. Smith no longer thinks the little xxxxx is adorable.

My friend, Stephen Howarth, gave me a copy of his book The Gain in Spain to read at the weekend. It is fabulous and will have you in stitches. It’s a well written catalogue of events that have occurred during Steve’s life in Spain. It’s published by Management Books 2000. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Guernica was….an experimental horror-Winston Churchill, The Gathering Storm

I´ve just finished reading this fabulous book about Guernica. It’s published by Picador and written by Dave Boling. Only one word can describe the book-compelling.

Well done Pompey. It must be a bit better for the bitter pill of demotion from the Premiership to be followed by a Cup Final date with Chelsea. I really can’t see Pompey beating Chelsea. The stats are stacked against the underdogs but……as for Liverpool………

Tainted water leads to cancer spike

I’ve been warning you for years about tainted water — and now, one community is paying the ultimate price.

A cancer cluster has been uncovered in the Chicago suburb of Crestwood… where residents were unwittingly drinking contaminated water for decades.

The Illinois Department of Public Health says this small village of 11,000 people is suffering from elevated rates of gastrointestinal, kidney, lung and colorectal cancers. And while you can lead a bureaucrat to tainted water, you can’t make him think — because the report actually stops short of blaming the water itself.

But everyone knows what really happened in Crestwood.

The contamination was first exposed in 1985, when state EPA tests found traces of a chemical used in dry cleaning in the local well water. They alerted the village, which said it would stop using the dirty water.

That’s when this story gets really, truly frightening… because the village then inexplicably continued to use this undrinkably bad sludgewater for 20 more years. Even worse: They stopped testing it!

That’s right — not a single follow-up test over 20 years. And if that’s the case in a place like Crestwood, where they KNEW the water was contaminated, what chance does your town have?

    Answer: None.

This toxic tale tells you everything you need to know about the inability of public officials to test and regulate the water supply.

It’s sad — but expect to hear about more Crestwoods. Water contamination is the next big crisis ready to explode, and your town may be next. Truth is, you’re better off sucking up a mud puddle in a Third World country than sipping a glass of typical American H20.

    Tapping into the truth,

    William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

P.S. They tell us we should drink eight glasses of water each day. Meaning… we should drink eight glasses of toxins that increase our risks of Alzheimer’s, stroke, kidney failure, and even cancer.
