Brian Jacks is the 1972 Olympic bronze
medallist.

On 28th June 2020 I was fortunate enough to talk
to this great British Judo Champion who was an
inspiration to many other Judo Players both from
his wonderful Judo career and from his eminence
in the TV show Superstars. Brian told me about
how he went to Japan to learn Judo the hard way.
From fighting in the Tokyo Olympics where he
lost to the eventual winner of those games. Brian
went on to win Bronze in the 1972 Munich
Games. He has never been thrown for a full
ippon in any tournament. He gave me an insight
into the difference in lifestyle between UK and
Thailand. Brian has very clear views how
England has changed and his clarity of thought
confirmed my own suspicions of the deep
changes in British society. Respect is a
fundamental flaw in a society where we once had
respect for our elders and others in society.
Brian certainly confirmed my own experience of
teaching in UK schools.
